2004 Updates: We are back adding new material to the Herstory site.

Week of September 25- We added photos of the 1976 People's Health Fair to the More Photos Section.

Week of August 14- The Grrlsmarts section is back online.

Week of May 15- We added "One By One You're Gonna Know Our Power", a seminar paper about the Chicago Women's Liberation Rock Band from U of C student Hillary Resor.

Weeks of February 22- March 21 We have been cleaning up the HTML code, chasing down bad links, fixing typos and correcting assorted cyber-goofs.

Week of February 15- Our online catalog went live.

Week of January 18- Added a guide to producing the Jane play to the Jane in the Theater section. You may also test out our new online ordering catalog and give us your feedback. You will receive a 10% discount until February 14 when the catalog will go fully public.

2003 Updates

Week of December 14- Added a poster order form to the Marketplace Section. Added a membership form.

Week of October 26- Added two documents from the 1975 Socialist Feminist Conference to the Organizing Section.

Week of October 12- Added lyrics to the songs by the New Haven Women's Liberation Rock Band to the Gallery section. Added the article "The Vagina on Trial" by Kathleen Barry to the Classic Feminist Writings section. Added the article "Rape Means Never Having to Say You're Sorry" by Kay Potter to the Classic Feminist Writings section.

Week of August 11- Added songs by the New Haven Women's Liberation Rock Band to the Gallery Section.Added a link to the video Radical Harmonies to the Marketplace .

Week of July 27- Fixed two Graphics Collective posters in the Gallery Section.

Week of July 20- Added a memoir by Ellen DuBois to the Text Memoirs section. Added some missing Graphics Collective posters to the Gallery Section.

Week of July 13- Added an article about a CWLU Writers Workshop to the Consciousness section. Added an article explaining the reasons for women's liberation to the Consciousness section. Added a report on the 1975 Socialist Feminist Conference to the Organizing Section.

Week of June 30- Added an excerpt from Jo Freeman's upcoming book, At Berkeley in the 60's to the Text Memoirs section.

Week of June 23-Added a video of Jenny Knauss to the Video Memoirs section.
Week of May 25-Added a report from an early national women's liberation conference (1969?) to the Organizing Section.

Week of May 18- Added more books to the Books section of the Marketplace and improved the navigation. Added the January 1969 issue of Voice of the Women's Liberation Movement to the Classical Writings section of the Archive. Added A View from the Loop, a history of the women's healthcare movement in Chicago, to the Health section of the archive.

Week of April 12-Added an article about women prisoners to the Consciousness section. Added articles on womens health from the Center for Research on Women and Gender to the Feminist Salon.

Week of April 5- Added the "CESA Statment of Purpose" to the Health Archive. Added an article on forcd sterilization in Puerto Rico to the Health Archive.

Week of March 3- Added the play Everywoman and the article "How to start your own consciousness-raising group" to the Consciousness section of the Archive. Added "Females and Welfare by Betsy Warrior to the Classic Feminist Writings. Added a report on the 1974 woman's march for economic justice to the Organizing Section. Added a letter from the Abortion Defense Fund to the Jane Documents section of the Special Feature.

Week of February 24- Added announcements about the anti-war position taken by the National Women's Studies Association and the new book about women fighting sexism at ATT to the Feminist Salon.

Week of February17- Added announcements about the death of Ginni Clemmens and a woman basketball player's protest to the Feminist Salon.

Week of February 2- Added announcements about Bush & Hager and the feminist peace movement to the Feminist Salon.

Week of January 20 - Added an announcement about the anti abortion movement and an article about the anti-war movement by Jo Freeman to the Feminist Salon.

Week of January 12 - Added announcements about the book Don't Kill Your Baby, a remembrance of the Willmar 8, an action alert about Title IX, and an article from a teen feminist to the Feminist Salon.

 Week of January 5 -Uploaded the January E-Zine to the Project News page. Added the orginal 1966 NOW Statement of Purpose to the Classic Feminist Writings. Added articles by Ellen DuBois, Shulamith Firestone, Roberta Lynch, Carol Downer and Barbara Ehrenreich to the Classic Feminist Writings .

Week of December 29-Added new entries to the CWLU timeline section.

Week of December 2-Added memoirs by Ruth Carol and Naomi Weisstein to the Text Memoirs. Added "What is Women's Liberation" to the Consciousness section. Added the history of the Illinois Caucus for Adolescent Health to the Health Archive .

Week of November 25-Re designed the Salon page and added added a Translation function. Added the CWLU timeline.

Week of November 11-Added a new memoir of Heather Booth to the Text Memoirs.

Week of December 9: Updated the Organizing section with more sports articles and a movie review from the time. Updated the Family Archive with an article on the unfair burdens of motherhood. Updated the Consciousness Section with an article on high school women and a Marxist analysis of the women's liberaion movement by Marlene Dixon.

Week of December 2: Fixed some random javascript errors. Added a link to an e-mail action alert about women in Afghanistan.

Week of Nov 19: Updated the Organizing section with an article on the battle against gender discrimination in Chicago's Parks. Week of September 24: Updated the News section with an announcement about the UIC Gender and Women's Studies lecture series and an announcement about an upcoming Chicago Abortion Fund celebration honoring Amy Laiken and Sara Bornstein among others.

Week of September 17: Updated the Consciousness section of the Archive with Grand Coolie Damn by Marge Piercy and and the manifesto from the 1968 Miss America Protest. Added a statement by Elle Smeal of the Femist Majority about the Sept 11 tragedy and Afghanistan. Updated the News section with a link to Women and Children First's October schedule.

Week of September 10: Updated the, Work, Sexuality, Consciousness and Health sections of the Archive with documents about being a waitress, sexual politics, Ms Magazine ,& rape. Added an article about the Graphics Collective to the Gallery section. Cleaned up code in the Archive section and the CWLU Overview section.

Week of September 3: Updated the Family, Work, Sexuality and Health sections of the Archive with documents about women's legal issues, on being a woman lawyer, women's labor organizing, sexual stereotypes and gender discrimination.

Week of August 27: Updated the GrrlSmarts and Salon pages. Added a memoir by Linnea Johnson to our Memoirs & Bios section.

Week of August 20: Added our History Channel.com and Women and Children First affiliations to the site. Updated the News section with articles about our new affiliations, an upcoming conference on Hull House, the kickoff of Chicago's Digital Eve and the September schedule of Women and Children First Bookstore. Fixed a problem that would have prevented users of the new Internet Explorer from experiencing our video and audio.

Week of August 13: Updated the News section with an articles about the New Mexico Women's Summit, the re-release of the Mountain Moving Day album, and the book tour of Suzan Erem. Fixed a techical problem with one of our contact forms.

Week of August 6: Updated the News section with an article about LadyFest Chicago. Added three new pages to the the Button Gallery.

Week of July 30: Created the Button Gallery with two pages of feminist buttons and an article on feminist buttons by Jo Freeman. Updated the GrrlSmarts and Salon pages.

Week of July 23- Updated the Organizing and Health sections of the Archive with documents on a CWLU community organizing proposal, a 1975 Planning Committee report and a healthcare organizing proposal. Updated the News page with an announcement about an August women's theater performance in Chicago. Updated the Naomi Weisstein bios in the Memoirs section with Naomi memorabilia from Jo Freeman.

Weeks of July 1, 8 & 15-Web Goddess on vacation. No updates.

Week of June 18- Updated the Family section of the Archive with an article about Chicago's Family Relations Court and an article about the CWLU Legal Clinic.

Week ofJune 4- Updated the Work section of the Archive with two DARE documents. Updated the Text Memoirs section with an autobiographical essay by Jo Freeman.

Week of May 28-Updated the News section with an article about Meredith Tax and Women's World, a notice about a women's peace meeting and a request for volunteers to participate in a lesbian health study. Added two areas to our Links section: Cultural Links and Academic Links. Added books by Meredith Tax and Suzan Erem to the Books section of the Feminist Marketplace. Updated the GrrlSmarts and Salon pages.

Week of May 21-Updated the News section with our future plans, our site stats and an article about Ruth Surgal and Paula Kamen at the NAF meeting. Updated the Organizing section of the Archive with a 1972 article called "Chicago Women's Liberation Union" and the Work section of the Archive with a DARE document on government agencies and 4 press releases about gender discrimination. Cleaned up some errors and cybergoofs in the Archive section.

Week of May 14-Updated the News section with an announcement about a new production of Jane: Abortion and the Underground and an announcement about an upcoming Barbara Ehrenreich talk in Chicago. Added some new links to our Networking Links section. Updated the Consciousness section of the Archive with the article "Poor White Women " and the Organizing section with "Secret Storm".

Week of May 7-Updated the News section with an announcement about a party for Paula Kamen's now book.

Week of April 30-Changed the info on Susan Abod's new CD to include online credit card ordering. Updated the News section with an announcement of the 2001 National Women's Music Festival. Updated the GrrlSmarts and Salon pages.

Week of April 23-Switched our site search from Atomz.com to Mastercom. Updated the News section with shorts about the LadyFest festival, a new video project and our grant applications. Moved older News into the News Archive section. Created the Internationalism Archive and added 3 articles about women and the SE Asia War, as well as one article about women in China.

Week of April 15-Updated the Consciousness section of the Archive with a 1968 article, "Black Women in Poverty". Updated the Family section of the Archive with two articles, "Lesbian Mothers" and "And Jill Came Tumbling After". Created the Work section of the archive and added 3 articles: "Don't Think", "Cleaning Up" and the "DARE Janitress Campaign". Also added the League of Women Voters and the YWCA to the CWLU List of Sister Organizations.

Week of April 8-Updated the News section with shorts about lesbian research, Susan Abod's upcoming concert and the status of our IRS application. Added the UIC logo and a link to our sponsor, The UIC Center for Research on Women and Gender.

Week of April 1- Updated the GrrlSmarts and Salon pages.

Week of March 25- Added an article on racism in the healthcare system to the Health section of the Archive. Uploaded "Double Jeopardy: To Be Black and Female", "Why I Want a Wife"," The Woman Identified Woman" and "Trashing: The Dark Side of Sisterhood" to the Consciousness section of the Archive. Updated the News section with a notice about internships available through the Center for the Study of Political Graphics.

Week of March 18- Added two articles on sexuality from Womankind to the Sexuality Archive. Updated the News section with a call for academic papers about second wave feminism plus a story about WIN Magazine. Created the Health section of the Archive with several articles and documents about abortion, birthing, sterilization abuse and the politics of women's health. Added "The Politics of Housework" to the Family Archive.

Week of March 4- Uploaded a Guide to consciousness raising to the Consciousness section of the Archive.

Week of February 25- Added the Jo Freeman article Bitch to the Consciousness section of the Archive. Updated the Salon and GrrlSmart sections. Added a discussion with Judith Arcana to the Text section of the Memoirs page. Updated the News section with schedules for an International Women's Day Conference, the latest Paula Kamen book tour schedule, and a schedule for Women and Children First events. Added two articles on lesbian organizing to the Organizing section of the Archive.

Week of February 18-Fixed a Javascript error on the Memoirs page.

Week of February 11-Added new links to the Networking Links section. Updated the Books section of the Feminist Marketplace.

Week of February 4-Minor updates in the Networking Links section. Bug fixes in several pages that were showing Javascript errors. Added material in the News section related to Heather Booth's job with the NAACP.

Week of January 28-Added news notes to the Herstory Project News section. Updated the GrrlSmarts and Salon pages. Performed numerous minor bug fixes throughout the site. Updated the Books section of the Feminist Marketplace.

Week of January 22-Added an interview with Paula Kamen to the Text Memoirs section. Posted a news article from Women's ENews about the new "Texas Janes" in the Jane Articles section. Fixed problems with message board. Created a gallery of More CWLU Photos featuring photos by Joan Berman.

Week of January 15-Uploaded three more Rock Band songs to the MP3 section. Added an article about Jane by Dana Simpson to the Jane Articles page and rearranged the Special Feature navigation. Added a note about a Roe vrs. Wade event to the News section. Updated and corrected the Links section.

Week of January 8-Updated the News Section with notes about Paula Kamen and Susan Abod. Added an order form for Susan Abod's upcoming audio CD. Added videos of Vivian Rothstein and Naomi Weisstein to our Video Memoir section. Added video of Naomi Weisstein to our Feminist Music section.

Week of January 1-Updated GrrlSmarts and Feminist Salon. Reorganized the Gallery. Added a Kristin Lems song to the Gallery and a new Naomi Weisstein interview to the audio memoirs section. Added some updates to the News section and a link to Paula Kamen's new book in our Books section of the Feminist Marketplace. Moved the site from Enteract to Pair Networks.

2000 Updates

Week of December 24-Added the 1972 CWLU Fact-finding article to archive. Did some minor reorganization of the archive .

Week of December 17-Renamed the PowerGrrls section GrrlSmarts and added content. Added content to the Feminist Salon. Connected the message board .

Week of December 10-Added two articles by Jo Freeman to the Consciousness Archive section.

Week of December 3-No updates.

Week of November 26- Added a news note about Heather Booth to the News section.

Week of November 19- Uploaded some minor layout changes in a number of sections. Added a news note about Mary Ellen Croteau to the News section and a link to the news section from the home page.

Week of November 12- Made minor layout changes in the Links section. Added Linnea Johnson news note.

Week of November 5- Uploaded minor changes in Marketplace and About the Project to main site.

Week of October 28-Added an e-mail update list link. Submitted site to multiple search engines and indexes. Did some minor redesign to the Marketplace and About the Project sections and sent them to test site.

Week of October 21-Added Contributors pages, our Mission Statement and a Tech Notes page to the Herstory Project section. Updated the News section. Greatly expanded the CWLU Overview including a CWLU historical summary, a listing of workgroups, projects, and sister organizations, a 1972 statement of CWLU purpose and an article about the CWLU protest at Playboy Mansion in 1970. Uploaded major redesign to the main site.
